United States debt binge illustrated in one chart

The true scale of the enormous growth in United States debt since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic is illustrated in a new chart released by U.S. Government watchdog, Federal Budget in Pictures.

The chart titled, Two Centuries of Debt in 27 Months, depicts just that.

It shows that in the 27 months between March 2020 and June 2022, the U.S. Federal Government added $7 trillion to the nation’s national debt.

The organisation points out that it took the government 215 years (from George Washington to George W. Bush) to initially reach $7 trillion in debt.
