Video: The changing US yield curve in 3D
A 3D data visualization created using Chartfleau, provides a unique view of the evolution of the US yield curve from 1990 to 2022.
The video was created by Chartfleau founder, Jan Varsava.
The US Treasury yield curve is viewed as one of the most reliable measures of the outlook for the US economy.
Along with the data visualization the clip also features snippets of commentary from former Federal Reserve Chairs, including Alan Greenspan.
“If you actually plot those data, it’s the fastest decline that we have seen in that longer-term set of tranches in many decades. So something unusual is clearly at play here,” said Greenspan in 2005, prior to the global financial crisis.
Earlier this month, recession fears led the US 10-year yield curve to invert for the first time since 2019.
